2019 TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • All Walking Football participants of WFU National Tournaments agree to be bound by these terms and conditions on entering the tournament. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions may result in disqualification from the tournament.

  • The closing date for teams to enter will be March 1st. Any teams applying after the cut off date up until the competition start date may be considered. Any teams applying to enter the competition after the start date will not be considered as all of the relevant details and information will have been sent.

  • The start date for the competition is March 10th.

  • The competition is free to enter.

  • The 2019 National Tournament is a minimal-contact format.

  • The FA Laws Of The Game are in effect and their rules will be chosen for the tournament.

  • There are four age categories for 2019 - 45+ 50+ 60+ and 65+.

  • In the 45+ age category a minimum of two players aged between 45-49 must be present on the pitch at the start of play and when play is active.

  • A player may play for any age category they are eligible to enter into. A player may not play for two different clubs in the same age category, but can play for different teams in different age categories as long as they have not appeared for another team in the same age category. That player becomes 'cup tied' if they have.

  • Competing participants must be of age or over prior to the match they are playing in.  WFU reserve the right to request proof of age at any time after the competition start date. Any team fielding a non-eligible player without WFU knowledge or authorisation will be disqualified from further participation with immediate effect.

  • A registration of teams and players will be in effect.

  • It is advisable for playing participants to carry proof of age to matches.

  • Proof of age will be asked by the opponent team coordinators or the team captain in the absence of a manager/team coordinator. Players asked for such proof of age should comply in good spirits and not take offence. Any participating player that cannot provide proof of age at any WFU tournament match will be notified to WFU and that player will be under scrutiny to provide proof at the earliest convenience.

  • WFU would like to be informed of the outcome whenever a player is asked to provide proof of their eligibility/age throughout the tournament.

  • WFU reserves the right to ask specific coordinators to conduct a random feasibility test/quality assurance check at any time during the tournament.

  • It is the duty of the team organisor to be aware of the ages of all players prior to them competing in any scheduled match.

  • Each team participating in the competition will be made up of a maximum of 6 players  (6-a-side), with 3 flexi- subs permitted (squad of 9 only.) In exceptional circumstances (medical, health) permission may be sought from WFU to slightly extend the squad numbers. Each request will be taken on an individual basis. Should this come into effect, all opponents of teams with granted extraneous circumstances will be informed, and their respective acknowledgement and approval sought. WFU will though, make the final decision on any matters or issues that arise. A team may participate in the competition with a squad minimum number of 6 players – but will have to contend with any injuries or health issues that arise. No team may start a game with less than 6 players. The match will be forfeited if a team cannot field 6 players at the start.

  • No venue or club may submit more than ONE team. No 'B' teams permitted.

  • All teams shall submit a name by which they will be referred to. WFU shall reserve the right to decline any team name that is deemed to be unacceptable, inappropriate or in any way controversial.

  • All teams must have a designated person responsible for liaising with WFU and with all other team appointed designated persons they are to come into contact with in regard to arranging matches, sharing of information, or any other aspects associated with the competition. These delegated persons must have made themselves known to WFU prior to competition participation commencement. As best as possible, these delegated persons should have constant and close contact with the team members for expediency of sharing information and match arrangement aspects.

  • WFU reserves the right to expel ant team, team member or organiser from the competition if they knowingly falsify or permit non-eligible players to participate, act outside the parameters of sportsmanship, conduct and fair play, or are in contravention of the interests of the competition, or bringing the game of Walking Football into disrepute.

  • All participant teams MUST register squad names and dates of birth as part of the registration process.

  • The total number of names in a squad will not exceed 15.

  • Any new players through squad transfers (max.15) must be registered through WFU prior to participating.

  • No new player added to the squad may play in a final without having played in a previous match.

  • A player may not play for another club if they have already played for a team in the competition.

  • The rules of the WFU 2019 National Tournament have been devised from the FA’s Small Sided Football rules. These have also been laid out after much consideration from various other sources, leagues and formats, and with the slower pace of the game of Walking Football in mind. WFU fully appreciates that venues adopt individual rules according to their venue set up or participant preferences. That is understandable and acceptable. In entering the competition, all teams must abide by the rules laid out. An appeal against any rule may be lodged and will be given consideration.

  • The competition format must be adhered to. Organisers may  propose altering formats if it is deemed a more appropriate solution to any impending issues. Altering formats must be agreed to by WFU and any/all scheduled opponents. Failure to follow the rules laid out by WFU, or failing to notify WFU of appeal to change or alter rules or format will result in the disqualification of all teams infringing said rules or formats. Teams agreeing to waive formats or rules will be disqualified.

  • Teams not registered into the competition shall not be permitted to be part of any format where results are used to determine winners at any stage. Only teams entered into the competition may form the basis of formats that determine winners at any stage.

  • Each playing participant assumes all risks inherent on entering the competition.

  • Should a team withdraw from the competition for any reason during a round robin or series of head to head matches where all of the games have not been concluded, the results of matches already played shall be void.

  • All participating players must wear shin pads: a 'no pads - no play' policy applies.

  • Any team may withdraw from the competition for any reason at any time. By registering into the competition, it does not necessarily mean that there is an obligation to continue participation. Teams may withdraw if travel issues arise, numbers of participants cannot be attained, expenditure concerns are prevalent, or it is considered that the competition does not meet needs or fulfils expectation.

  • Incidents of significance, violent conduct, extreme abuse, teams waiving rules, fielding ineligible players should be reported to WFU at the earliest possible convenience.

  • WFU reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. They will come into effect immediately on publication onto the WFU website (www.walkingfootballunited.co.uk) and when they have been submitted via email to all participating teams or organisors.
